I had forgotten about this brand until I stumbled upon an article by Nick Schonberger at www.highsnobiety.com titled Fila Heritage. I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Nick for the quality of his blog posts. I wish I was as hardworking as him,,, I’d probably be rich by now.

Skinny and pale: Completely out of fashion?

I didn’t think they would deserve a spot in my blog but unfortunately, they do, I couldn’t believe it, they are dead! Tell me what you think!

I ended up going for the most popular fashion TV model pic according to this site which promotes t-shirts and other promotional accessories.

I really like Puff Daddy, you see. The only problem I have with this guy is his name… Or (plural) shall I say his nameS ?

That’s the tricky part when writing about Puff Daddy, you just don’t know the guy’s name anymore. Is it Diddy, P Diddy, Prince, Puff Daddy or Love symbol?

It’s monday morning, and I got it all mixed up. I understand the confusion is general and comes from various law suits about intellectual property related to another singer’s name.

He was originally known as Puff Daddy and then as P. Diddy (Puff and Puffy being often used as a nickname, but never as recording names). , he changed his stage name to “Diddy”. He continues to use the name P. Diddy in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, the latter after a legal battle with another artist, Richard “Diddy” Dearlove.

Ok, most of the clothes designed by P Diddy’s team are great: The t-shirts, the baggy trousers, the shoes etc.. P Diddy is a successful business man who, in my opinion, has set new references in terms of urban wear.

The style is easy to wear, not too flashy, just cool classics.

Ok, Sean John clothes are expensive but someone needs to pay P diddy expensive cigars, right?

Did you know? P Diddy’s clothing line earned a Council of Fashion Designers of America award. Not sure what that means for Puff Daddy his clothing line will do great anyway.

Ecko is a clothing brand that I personally look up to.  They got great tee-shirt designs.
The ECKO hoodies and jeans are pretty good too. They also do great footwear.

Now the question I was asking myself is:

How did Ecko move from classic Skatewear / hip hop wear styles into more rock orientated styles?

Most popular Ecko T-shirts look very rock n roll in terms of design.

I think both the classic style and the new -rock- style are great. Designers in this company rock!!!

It feels like we are back in the eighties when Run DMC came up with Walk this way.

It feels that the fashion trend nowadays doesn’t separate influences from hip hop and rock.

Instead, they blend into each other and create a new style that rocks like Run.

I am definitely the right guy to push this influence into the creation of more mixed designs for the REAL DEAL clothing line.

While writing this article I found out that my favorite skateboard decks brand – Zoo York – belongs to the same guys who created Ecko.

Trouble! The guy (real name Aliaune Thiam) is a sweet family man, a successful businessman and a great singer and producer. One of the best hip hop and RnB artists of our time.

Plus, he doesn’t come up with the usual and now boring: I am the king of… which is quite refreshing. On most pictures he is looking good and smiling just like on this picture of Akon with Lady Gaga.

Have you already noticed? Akon wears black or white clothing most of the time.

I am honestly still looking for some cool clothes in that collection. Seriously,, how can you end up mixing light blue with that ugly brown color?

I m not even going to mention the mix of colors of the cardigan. To me, there’s a problem somewhere. Akon, Too many colors kills the style! I don’t know if your clothing line targets specifically the African consumers, but to me, purple, red, light blue, white and black all together on one cardigan is way too much.

It just doesn’t work. Sorry to say that.

Now this clothing brand exists since 2007. Can we now look back and say that AKON has been as successful in this clothing business as he’s been in the music business?

At the Video Music Awards,Akon had his eyes set on one of the ladies. “Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga. That’s why I’m here,” Akon said.

Lady Gaga is reported to have arrived at the show with date Kermit the Frog!!! How crazy is that?

The MTV show made its return yesterday in the USA. The $ 100,000 competition is generating millions of comments about the performers, the judges and anything from their new hairstyles to their clothing style of course.

I know what you’re all thinking.. Bilal is going to get started on Vogue Evolution the gay crew of the show and make comments on their outfits.

Well, no, they are gay and in America it is Ok. I just wouldn’t wear what they wear. No anti gay blogging here. Period.

What about the judges?  Just by the way they look, wearing urban style / hip hop gear, I have a feeling they would share my discreet opinion on the gay band and their outfits.

Or maybe it’s just a cliche that hip hop is anti gay? In that case wearing hip hop clothes means you are not gay.

One thing is for sure, pictures of last night show are high in colors and street-wear designers should definitely take a look at what is going on in there. People on the scene are doing everything they can to grab the attention, you can see that in the outfits.

Could the show be used as a laboratory for new urban trends and street-wear clothing designs?

The KING???? Wait a minute, what’s going on these days?

It looks like everybody is the king of something! TI would be the king of Hip Hop in the south, Tupac the king of hiphop etc..

Di it all start with the king of pop? Has this go something to do with his recent death?

(Couldn’t resist I was told to write about M Jackson death by another blogger – Recently dead people are supposed to attract curiosity)

It is possible that M Jackson will be forever remembered as such. That probably gives a lot of ideas to many hip hop artists.

How can there be more than one king? I understand nothing no more.

The fact that Jay-z earned more than usd 35 million in 2008 doesn’t make him the boss of other artists and to be the king you have to be the boss.

Sorry for all the fans, M Jackson is not the boss of the pop and neither is Jay z the king of hip hop. Hope that makes it clear for everyone out there in the medias.

Now, don’t get me wrong - people love to get me wrong : I’m a big fan of Jay-z… In fact, I was a big fan of Jay-z until the day he seduced my girlfriend and took her away from me (Beyonce).

I love Rocawear as a clothing brand, but what the hell with the model? I guess Jay-z fears choosing good looking models for his clothing brand will result in his precious Beyonce dumping him, just like she once left me… ;-(

About these jeans: Stylee!! Well it’s all in the big writing which goes all over the pockets like the guys couldn’t get pissed with trying to make the thing discreet and fitting somewhere on a pocket or something.

Black and White. How can you get it wrong wearing such classic colors? One of my favorite pair of trousers. To be a classic.

Anyway, they’re great jeans and i won’t complain if that’s what i got to wear for an eternity in hell. I like black jeans because it’s really easy to wear for all sorts of activities including night clubbing.

Well at least in the night clubs which still let me get in. They ‘re becoming rare because of the fights I unwillingly generate, but it’s not my fault… I’m a third generation alcoholic, so go blame my gran’ma.
