Ok Quicksilver is always going to be around because they have the budget to sponsor massively popular surfing competitions, but they are far less trendy than other newer brands such as Maddog beach wear and other new comers on the market.

FILA and the other footwear brands at the origin of streetwear

I remember my first pair of Fila, they were all black and lasted for about a month skateboarding on a daily basis.
That was good enough at the time (1993) because reinforced skateboard shoes had not been released yet in local skateboard shops in my area.

I had forgotten about this brand until I stumbled upon an article by Nick Schonberger at www.highsnobiety.com titled Fila Heritage. I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Nick for the quality of his blog posts. I wish I was as hardworking as him,,, I’d probably be rich by now.
